‘Words Can Be Kind’ by Matilda Brooks Carter

Words can be kind
Words can be harsh
Words can inspire
But words can also backfire

Days come and days go
Each day the same
And that’s when you know
You should never shame

Life is too short
To be polluted with stress
And you should never support
Those causing distress

Words are kind
Words are harsh
Words inspire
But they also backfire

Most people don’t acknowledge
The power behind their words
But some people can demolish
Those who go unheard

The disrespect
The unkind
The whole aspect
Of them combined

It wounds
It scars
It excludes
Everyone by far

Words should be kind
Words should not be harsh
Words should inspire
Then words will never backfire
