‘Unfortunate Circumstances – An Among Us Fanfiction’ by Ross Pearce, age 13, Soham Village College

Cyan stood before a set of large hydraulic doors. Every instinct in him told him to leave, to go kill somebody else, that this wasn’t worth it. But Cyan stayed firmly in place. Lime deserved to know the truth. What he really was. He couldn’t just keep lying to him like this. It was breaking his heart.

But, how could Cyan possibly admit this? He couldn’t just say “yeah, I’m an impostor and I killed two people.” Lime would hate him forever. He had to go slowly, ease Lime into it. He couldn’t be hasty.

As if on cue, the doors slid open, revealing Lime standing before Cyan, his visor curved to resemble a smile. He looked so cheerful, yellow sparkles might as well have been radiating around him.

“Cyan,” he exclaimed jovially. His tail wagged behind him. “Come in, please! You look stressed…”

It wasn’t false. Cyan was stressed. He was sweaty, and his knees felt as if they’d buckle at any moment. Though, he forced a friendly expression, cautiously stepping forwards before walking in to allow the doors to shut with a hiss.

Lime’s room was messy, to state the obvious. It wasn’t horrendous like the storage cupboard, but it definitely could be better.

“Sorry about the mess, dear, Purple’s kid comes over frequently…”

Purple. The name sent a shiver down Cyan’s spine. His expression became grave. He could never forget her screams, her blood on his hands, her son sobbing and begging him to stop. The way his knife dug into her guts, making a sickening squelching sound. He murdered her.

He’s a monster.

“Cyan…? What’s wrong, dear…?”

The electrician’s gaze drifted to Lime, before he broke down in tears. Loud sobs echoed in the previously quiet room as Cyan crumbled into a heap on the floor. Purple, oh Purple… he would never forgive himself. He orphaned an innocent child, and killed his mother in front of him, no less. He’s unforgiveable. He’s terrible. He should’ve been ejected instead of Red.

“I- don’t touch me, I’m a monster, Lime, I…”

“What- what…?”

Lime couldn’t comprehend what was happening properly. Cyan was speaking too fast and his voice was too shaky. What did he mean? He wasn’t a monster, he was sweet, and kind, and-

A crack filled the room. Cyan arose from the ground. He had tears streaming down his face, filling his visor. But…something else caught Lime’s attention before his boyfriend’s sorry state.

A massive, jagged mouth crossed Cyan’s whole body. Rows of sharp teeth made to devour, to tear, to kill. A large tongue, pointed at the end, able to pierce bodies in seconds. Smears of red across the pearly whites. Blood.

Cyan was a…a…

“Lime, I- I killed Purple and Brown. I’m an impostor.”

Lime was frozen in shock. His furry ears pinned back to his head. He couldn’t stop staring at the- …Cyan’s maw. Through the terror, Lime could only stammer out a sentence, shaking immensely.

“Are you for real?”
