‘The Writing on the Wall’ by Antonella Macchi Andersen, year 9, St Edmund’s Catholic School

It replays in my mind and won’t get out
I could tell you exactly what happened
It feels odd writing on paper for once
As if all the adrenaline is gone
Keeping alert and racing home, gone

Before getting caught it became routine
Leaving my mark everywhere I travelled
An addiction formed till I overdosed
For the first time people knew who I was
I was punished for expressing myself

The writing on the wall was vandalised
Society hid part of me forever
