‘The Writing on the Wall’ by Amber Kryemadhi, year 10, St Edmund’s Catholic School

It was a dark and gloomy night and I was walking alone past the empty shops of the town that looked just like a ghost town. All of a sudden, I heard someone spraying something like a bee buzzing in the air and I followed the sound. When I got there I saw someone wearing a black hoodie, ripped jeans and holding a spray can in their hand. Before I could go any closer the person dropped the spray can and ran off, leaving with no sound and no footprints. I was left alone with the spray can and had not a clue what to do with it, but then I saw something written on the wall. It said… “You are in danger!” What did this mean? Did it mean me?…

It was a bright Saturday morning and I was still thinking about what I saw last night on the wall. Is something going to happen to me? I was scared and worried about if something was going to happen, so I kept watching my every step, making sure nothing happened until one day I took my eyes off for just a minute and this happened…

I was outside and walking across the street when I saw a car following me, I thought it was just a coincidence, so I shrugged it off. Then I saw my friend, so I decided to talk to them. I thought it was my friend. All of a sudden, my so-called ‘friend’ signalled someone and then I felt myself getting grabbed by the shoulders, before I know I wake up tied to a wooden chair, I can barely move.

A guy comes in and starts laughing, I was confused why I was here, as I know I haven’t done anything wrong but before the guy was able to say anything, he got knocked out, hit with a bucket. What is going to happen?
