It was 8:00 in the morning on a Friday, and my family and I were busy getting ready for our trip. Everyone was still tired from waking up so early, and the cold weather only made us rush around even more. By 11:00 am, everything had finally been packed. After saying emotional goodbyes to our relatives, we began the long journey ahead. Even though the drive was supposed to take ages, time seemed to pass surprisingly quickly. We travelled through several countries, including France, Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany before eventually arriving in Poland. Once we had rested and unpacked, we went to visit our family, and the evening flew by faster than expected.
As the days passed, time seemed to move both slowly and quickly at the same time. Everyone around us was cheerful and enjoying themselves. The smell of barbecues drifted through the streets, while the sounds of neighbours talking and animals moving around filled the air. Children laughed and played outside constantly, making the atmosphere feel lively and warm. There was always something to do, which made every day disappear in an instant.
One evening, as the weather became cooler, we drove with our friends to another city to watch a beautiful water fountain show. Afterward, we spent some time slowly wandering around and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The next day, we decided to go on another adventure and visit somewhere completely new.
As we approached the area, breathtaking lakeside views came into sight. The scenery looked so perfect it hardly felt real. We parked nearby and started exploring, and within minutes we were amazed by how beautiful everything was. To get a better view, we rode cable cars high above the landscape, where the view looked almost magical. After reaching the other side, we headed down to the beach. The shoreline was a mixture of rocks and soft sand, while the waves gently rolled back and forth, creating a calm and relaxing sound. Boats carried tourists across the water, and children happily built sandcastles along the shore.
Before we knew it, two weeks had already passed, and it was finally time to pack up and leave. Everyone felt emotional about saying goodbye. Before heading home, our whole family visited another city filled with history and culture that represented the country beautifully. Together, we shared countless laughs and unforgettable memories.
When the time finally came to leave, tears were shed as we said our final goodbyes. The long journey home felt endless, as though time itself had slowed down. I stared out of the train window at the bright sunlight outside while we waited to enter a tunnel.
At first, everything seemed normal.
But after a few minutes inside, something started to feel wrong.
We were hundreds of metres underground when suddenly the train came to a complete stop. No one could get out.
That was the moment we all looked at each other in disbelief and thought:
“Are you serious…?”
