‘Real’ by Winter

It is all a lie.

The facts and the opinions are all looking the same.

Each eye is seeing the same.

Feeling,

Thinking,

Doing,

The same.

A girl sits on a bench,

Eyes of salt.

She isn’t real to anyone,

But herself.

Everyone flies around her,

Nobody sees,

The holes

In her butterfly wings.

There is a boy ,

Who is doubting his dad’s love.

Is it real or is it

Fake,

Temporary,

A well-rehearsed act.

He curls up under the bed,

His shadow the only

Real

Thing.

Standing on the rooftop,

Is a mum.

Who doesn’t

Understand

What she does wrong.

She can

Never

Never

Never

Get it right.

A gap,

To where a dad used to be,

Who ran,

Away.

He wanted to seek

Truth.

He hasn’t come back.

He won’t come back.

You,

Read this story,

And it could be real,

It could be fake,

My characters could be people

But my people could be characters.

You.

Are you for real?
