‘My last day’ by Anonymous

The deepest grey clouds filled the sky with crimson red blossoming through it. The once flowing river sat alone and dry. Towering around me were the once bustling skyscrapers still trying to reach the heavens and beyond. A lonely figure meandered through its maze aimlessly while movement began to cut them off. The whirring of their legs was the only sound in the echoless city. A scream ripped through the silence and a crimson red filled the street below. Another close. These machines didn’t check above them and they never would learn. I crossed the buildings and traveled along through the heart of all my problems. This bloody city. Only three days I’d been here and already I had almost died five times. These machines were getting annoying more than anything.

I had forgotten about time a long time ago but it must have been days I had been traveling. But finally this was the final building. And after all this time I had made it to ONE building. I peeked over and saw. No. It couldn’t be. There were no more buildings. But I had to stay up so I wasn’t brutally killed. But I had to stay on track for my family. I had to scale down. I couldn’t lose focus now. The concrete of the street welcomed my feet but I hated it. I was safe up , but now…I crept slowly across the street and then I heard my fear. A whir. I turned and it was there. A robot of oil black metal facing me. Its red eye rotated and it moved. Its dagger-like feet covered the round quick too quick. A stone on the ground tripped me ad I fell. A foot/claw engraved the ground next to my foot and I knew my end was near. And the last thing I would hear would be a whir. An arrow in the darkest wood soared through the air landing in its eye. A spark and then the eye went dark. I was safe and my saviour…
