‘Forget the Borders’ by Ella Hill, Age 14, Year 9, Soham Village College

Should I do it?

Can I do it?

What happened last time?

I failed

I’ll never be able to

But what if I try

You only live once

I might be able to

I might be able to do it

If I break down the borders holding me back

The borders between what I think I’m capable of

And what I can really do

Probably something beyond my wildest dreams

You’ll never know

until you try

It won’t be easy

You may take a tumble

But if you get back up

And forget about those borders

Anything is possible

The borders are fiction

Something created by you

To hold you back

And keep you safe

But if there are no borders

You are free to strive

To succeed in the unimaginable

So forget about the borders

You can never fully live

Until  they are forgotten

Never reach your full potential

Until they are forgotten

Never succeed

Until  they are forgotten

Until you break them down
