‘Discovery’ by Sanvi Parsaboina, Year 10

Have you ever felt like you just don’t fit in?

Confused why you never have that girl’s grin.

Confused why you find yourself comparing your chin.

You just don’t fit in.

Have you ever felt like you are alone?

Staring at the ground kicking around a stone.

Staring at the crowd hearing the happiness in their tone.

You are alone.

Have you ever felt like you are broken in pieces?

Wondering if the pain decreases.

Wondering if it ever ceases.

You are broken in pieces.

I hope you have felt the bliss of earth.

Hoping one day you realise your worth.

Hoping one day you die from mirth.

I promise the world’s not all a dearth.

Have you ever felt like you are at peace?

Knowing for once it’s not a lease,

Knowing joy as you felt the release.

You are at peace.

Have you ever felt like you are on top of the world?

Laughing so hard you almost hurled,

Laughing across the ballroom as you twirled.

You are on top of the world.

Have you ever felt like you can achieve anything?

Just by flying and spreading a wing,

Just by taking a risk and coming out singing

You can achieve anything.

You have now felt the bliss of earth.

Realising just how much you are worth;

Dying from countless bursts of mirth

Accepting the world’s not at all a dearth.
