‘Are you for real?’ by Molly

I awake to the sounds of the city surrounding me,

I check my phone – no new notifications

Great.

Another day of doing the same thing

Over and over year after year-

When will it end?

On the bus the same faces,

Same people talking

Everyone’s in their own bubble

Their own repetitive routine

When will it end?

Arrived at the same building

Ready to do the same routine

Over and over- again and again

When will it end?

I sit down at my desk

 To do the same thing

Over and over again and again

Out the window the bustling city-

Down below

I closed my eyes

And began to dream

Of a place of incomparable mystery

But instead I look back at the screen

Immersed with the same reparative work

Are You For Real?
