‘Are you for real?’ by Abi Waters, age 15, Year 10, Penwortham Girls’ High School

In this world you will never see the truth

But you never know because there is no proof

We wish for the screen to have no influence

You can’t tell what’s real, what’s fake because there is no difference

People make it out like it’s not a big deal

But I will never think that ‘Are you for real’

On this day people will believe the lies

Because every scroll shows fake image which no longer comes as a surprise

People may say ‘you need to touch some grass’

But our outside world isn’t as perfect as online so everyone says they’ll pass

AI is taking over and no one knows how to feel

WAIT to all my readers are you even real

Every image comes with a feeling of doubt

Because that flawless post looks like some filters lashed out

People think of the future every passing day

But no one day have we accepted our fate

Our ongoing days will not change due to the futures seal

The seal of AI trapping us and no one will ever comprehend this ‘Are you for real?’
