‘Are you being for real?’ by Aubre Washington, Penwortham Girls’ High School

A world so fake

All the tiktoks we make

Girls with clear skin

It can all go in the bin

Comments of ‘body tea ‘

But I can only believe

What’s in the mirror beside me

I see a memory

Deep inside me

A happy place

where I show my face

but all I can be

is berried under my screen

A world different to the one I know

A different one is all they can show

A pear of glasses

Is put on my face

To show a world

Much better than this place

A place full of colour and bright

Not a single bad thing in sight

Social media is fake

its in every step I take

but its only a matter of time

till another girls has to climb

out of the hole

but her reflection her has made her scroll

His worst fear is a mirror

wishing his skin was clearer

he hates photos of himself

so he reaches for the bookshelf

he never goes out

just walks round his typical rout

and scrolls on his phone

completely mentally blown

social media is so fake

don’t let it control the steps you take
